Why Art Education is Important

Art teaches a specific set of thinking skills or "studio habits of mind." The eight "studio habits of mind" are:

Development of Artistic Craft
Persistence
Expression
Making Clear Connections Between Schoolwork and the World Outside the Classroom
Observation
Envisioning
Innovating Through Exploration
Reflective Self-Evaluation
