Fourth Grade Mask Parade

Fourth grade students learned about the function of masks in other cultures. Along with adding beauty and enrichment to people's lives, masks function as tools to tell stories, moral and cultural beliefs, and history.

Students designed their mask to show something from their own "personal history." Using paper mache and cardboard, students problem-solved to build the form of their mask. They painted their masks with acrylic paint and added embellishments.

When they finished, students wrote about their masks in class (Thank you Mrs. Hanshaw and Mrs. Buckley for collaborating!). After all of their hard work, 4th grade students presented the final product in the mask parade! (Watch the videos.)

Primary and Secondary Colors

Last week students used different brushes and brushstrokes to make lines and shapes. This week kindergarten is learning how to mix colors. They are using the primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) to make the secondary colors (purple, green, and orange).
