Governor's Show

Monday, March 9th was a long and very exciting day for Addie Benedict, a first grade student at Washington Elementary. Addie woke up extra early to make the trek to the Capitol Building in Des Moines where she was recognized and honored by Governor Terry Branstad for her artwork.
Addie’s artwork and the artwork of only twelve other K-12 Iowa students was selected for essentially the highest honor in the state of Iowa, the Governor’s Show. The Governor’s Show is on display in the Governor’s Offices throughout the month of March for Youth Art Month.
The selected student artists were given a tour of the Capitol Building and a private reception with Governor Branstad.  Joining Addie for the tour and reception were members of her family and her art teacher Alicia Carradus.

Congratulations, Addie Benedict!
